There is a lot for a police department or fire department to learn about using polygraph in pre employment screening. Certainly the Employer Polygraph Protection Act is one, but there is more. ADA and the ADA Amendments, as well as HIPAA make this a complex field. But there is hope, as Government is exempt from the Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) rules, so many public agencies choose to use polygraphs in pre employment screening.
A more thorough review of candidates at the early stages is likely to save a ton of time, money, and avoidable damage later.
