Climate Pledge

The Climate Pledge is a cross-sector community of companies, organizations, individuals, and partners, working together to crack the climate crisis and solve the challenges of decarbonizing our economy. Bringing together those that are prepared to run the furthest and fastest, The Climate Pledge calls upon signatories to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2040—10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement. Amazon co-founded the Climate Pledge with Global Optimism in 2019, and became the first signatory of the pledge. 

PPoT is a very small company. However, it is committed to adopt strategies to help with this global environmental problem. This commitment is not virtue signaling; it is activity that the company has valued since it began. These activities include:

• Having efficiencies that minimize energy use. These include Energy Star video  monitors, using low light when possible, and minimizing use of printed paper. For example, all internal accounting is done digitally.
• Operating the office at conservative, energy reducing temperatures.
• Using a tablet to sign routine paperwork and not consume paper
• Making wise choices for a reference library. For example, PPoT keeps most of its continuing education references online, and buys used books from wise places like Recycle Reads, used bookstores, etc.
• Buying used when possible and appropriate. For example, office supplies often come from Austin Creative Reuse.
